STEELY Dan is my artist today for the 30 Day Album #Coach4adayChallenge. They came out with a release in 1985 specifically to address the CD market. They called it “A Decade of STEELY Dan“.

This compilation album had 14 songs all previously released and it became a big hit going Gold. STEELY Dan is in essence two people. Donald Fagan and Walter Becker. If you want to learn about these two personalities you should watch the documentary on how the 1977 album “Aja” was made. That 1999 film is called “Steely Dan: Aja

A Decade of STEELY DAN does include two songs from “Aja” which were both mega-hits “Deacon Blues” and “Peg”

The first track is “FM” which was actually written for the movie “FM” and won STEELY Dan a Grammy in 1971. The last song “Bad Sneakers” is a critique of living in Southern California in the 1970’s. The 70’s for STEELY Dan were full of hits and this listening to this album I couldn’t help but enjoy myself. Give it a listen.
