STEALING a base in baseball doesn’t happen in every inning especially at the professional level.

As part of the #Coach4adayChallenge I wanted to go over some baseball history records related to stolen bases.

Today actually marks the 102nd anniversary of the last time a Major League Baseball team stole eight bases in one inning. My friend Rodd Baxley (Giants Fan) will be happy to know that the Philadelphia Phillies did that on July 7, 1919 in a 10-5 loss to the New York Giants. All those occurred in the 9th inning.

Here are some other MLB stolen base records.

In baseball STEALING all three bases in a single inning is also quite a feat or possibly an indictment of a bad catcher. There have been 53 instances of a player STEALING second base, third base, and then home during the same inning, by 43 different ballplayers.

Kevin Pillar of the Toronto Blue Jays stole all three bases back in 2018 against the NY Yankees.
