May 2026 the 30-Day Coach4aday Challenge will feature travel pictures. It is a simple daily activity of posting a photo of a place that you have traveled to or a location you plan to visit. Today it is the art that small MOSAIC tiles can create.

This month marks the 77th consecutive month that friends Jeff Neelon and Jaclyn Donovan have taken on some sort of challenge. For May 2026 participants simply commit to taking or sharing one travel-themed photo each day for 30 days. Each photo just needs to be accompanied by a simple descriptor. Hope you decide to join the 30-Day Travel Pics Coach4aday Challenge.

Day 17-Mosaic Tiles and Art

One part of my travel itineraries is visiting U.S. State Capitols. Last September my wife and I had the opportunity to tour the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg. Lining the walls leading to the rotunda were stunning works of art created from countless small one-inch mosaic tiles, adding remarkable beauty and detail to the experience.

In addition to what you see below that was close to the top of the rotunda there are lots of mosaic images on the ground level. The Rotunda Floor Mosaics — hundreds of small tile scenes featuring animals, tools, factories, trains, farming, and symbols tied to Pennsylvania heritage. Visitors often spend time searching for favorite images hidden throughout the floor.

Here is one of the photos I took in Sept 2025-Most of what you see are small 1″ mosaic tiles.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
