#Pencils February 22

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

In February 2026, many of us will participate in the 30-Day Six-Word Coach4aday Challenge. Each day, we’ll tell a story using just six words in response to that day’s prompt. A daily six-word story challenge encourages clarity, creativity, and intentional reflection by forcing us to distill our thoughts into what truly matters. Regular writing supports brain health by strengthening memory, improving focus, and encouraging deeper cognitive processing through reflection and creativity. Today the prompt is PENCILS.

Six Word-30 Day Challenge Guidelines

As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to sharing an ingredient from a food label during the month of February.

  1. Locate today’s prompt found below and write a six-word story using the prompt word.
  2. Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
  3. Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

Day 22-Pencil Story

In August 2024 my wife and I made an eight-day trip across NY State including one entire day that we visited Saratoga Springs NY and drove completely around all of Lake George. Getting to the northern tip of that body of water took us to Ticonderoga NY. It was there a myth got revealed to me about the infamous #2 yellow Ticonderoga pencils.

Ticonderoga pencils. It almost seems like a sure thing…with a standout name like Ticonderoga, you might assume that these pencils are – or were – made right here in Ti.  The truth is, the pencils themselves were never made in Ticonderoga, but the graphite originally used in the pencils was mined in Ticonderoga.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
