#Scale October 12

In October 2025, many of us will be taking part in the 30-Day Kitchen Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we will spotlight an appliance, utensil, or gadget found in a commercial or residential kitchen. The tools and devices used to prepare and cook food is quite extensive and this month we will take a look at both the sublime and ridiculous. My post today is focused on a SCALE.

October 12th-30-Day Kitchen Coach4aday Challenge of the Day-Scale

If someone in your household is on a diet or is attempting to maximize portion sizes a digital scale in the kitchen is a valuable tool. We own a very basic model that operates on a Coin CR 2032 battery. You can see it in the picture below with the battery located in top left of photo. It obviously housed in the back of the scale but removed it for the picture.

Kitchen-30 Day Challenge Guidelines

As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to sharing something about an appliance, utensil, or gadget found in a Kitchen during the month of October

  1. Record something about an item found in a Kitchen. Make sure you include a description and its purpose. Try, if possible, to include a photo.
  2. Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
  3. Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

October 12th-Digital Scale

Here are some of the best uses for a digital scale in a household kitchen:

  1. Baking accuracy – Measure ingredients like flour, sugar, and butter precisely for consistent results.
  2. Portion control – Weigh servings of meat, grains, or snacks to manage portions and nutrition.
  3. Coffee brewing – Ensure the perfect coffee-to-water ratio for consistent flavor.
  4. Recipe scaling – Easily double or halve recipes by weighing ingredients instead of estimating.
  5. Measuring liquids – Weigh liquids in grams or milliliters directly in a bowl or cup for easy cleanup.
