#Jupiter January 12

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

For January 2025, several of us are taking part in the 30-Day Song Lyrics Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we utilize a theme and post the song lyrics from a song that connects the two. Today my theme is Planets and my song choice is Drops of JUPITER.

Hit songs sometimes can be hard to come by. That was the case for the band Train. Formed in San Francisco in 1994, they played small venues for a few years and in 1996 recorded their first, self-titled album, which included “Meet Virginia.” They couldn’t get a record deal, so they released it independently. For five years they kind of languished as a one hit band until 2001 when they released Drops of Jupiter.

Song Lyrics 30-Day Challenge Guidelines

Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines

  1. Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, and explain, if necessary, why it connects to your daily theme.
  2. Please try to include the songwriters
  3. Link to a video so people can listen to the song

Singing lead vocals for Train is Pat Monahan. He is from a very strong Irish family and grew up in Erie PA. He was the youngest of 7 children and age 5 became an uncle. He lost his mother to lung cancer in 1998 and that loss inspired him to write Drops of Jupiter. This song which was on the album with the same name rescued Train from being a one hit wonder band.
