#Boeing November 6

Throughout November 2024, several of us are taking part in the 30-Day Dow Jones Coach4aday Challenge. Each day, we explore the history or learn about a company within the DJIA—a key economic and stock market indicator. Today’s post is on BOEING.

Experiencing different things can often times alter our lives. That happened in July 1916 when timber merchant saw an airshow. That businessman name was William E Boeing and he was inspired to create the Pacifico Aero Products Company. A few years later it changed the name to Boeing Airplane Company.

The DJIA started 7 years before the first plane successful flew at Kitty Hawk NC. Boeing made its debut on the Dow March 12, 1987 and you can find it trading under the stock symbol BA.

Dow Jones 30-Day Challenge Guidelines

Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines

  1. Each day in November 2024 write about the history or a company that makes up the Dow Jones.
  2. Share at least one fact about that company.
  3. If so inclined use the hash tag #Coach4adayChallenge on social media platforms

November 6th-Boeing

Boeing is a company that has made lots of money producing the 737 and 777 jet airliners. Over the past twelve months Boeing has had numerous issues with their planes. Here is a link to an NPR article on the timeline of their woes.

When the stock first hit the Dow in 1986 it’s average trading price was $6.19 on November 1, 2024, was $154.59. On March 1, 2019, the price reached an all-time high of $440.62. For 2024 the average stock price for Boeing in down 42%.
