For the month of July 2024 several of us are going to take on a 30-Day Nickname Coach4aday Challenge. The simple concept is to share a nickname and tell a little about who it is associated with and why they got tagged with that moniker. Today I’m going with a character from a TV show that in 1970 had been a top 5 series for nine years running. That character’s name in the show was HOSS.

Dan Blocker was an American actor best known for his role as Hoss Cartwright on the popular TV western series “Bonanza,” which aired from 1959 to 1973. His character, a gentle giant with a big heart, became a beloved figure in the show’s portrayal of the Cartwright family’s adventures in the Nevada Territory.

Nickname 30-Day Challenge Guidelines

Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines.

  1. Each day in July learn something or just appreciate a nickname associated with someone.
  2. Share that name with others
  3. If so inclined use the hash tag #Coach4adayChallenge on social media platforms
