For the month of July 2024 several of us are going to take on a 30-Day Nickname Coach4aday Challenge. The simple concept is to share a nickname and tell a little about who it is associated with and why they got tagged with that moniker. Today I’m going with a famous author who has been dubbed the BARD.
Simply put a Bard is someone who writes lyrical poetry. Sometimes in death a nickname gets bestowed upon someone. That was the case of William Shakespeare who died in 1616. An actor named David Garrick in 1769 wrote about Shakespeare and called him The Bard of all Bards.
Nickname 30-Day Challenge Guidelines
Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines.
- Each day in July learn something or just appreciate a nickname associated with someone.
- Share that name with others
- If so inclined use the hash tag #Coach4adayChallenge on social media platforms
July 11th-The Bard
Over generations sometimes words lose some of their significance. Early on the word simply meant a friend who writes poetry. Shakespeare was a prolific writer authoring 38 plays, 2 narrative poems, 154 sonnets, and a variety of other poems.
There is a book called The Complete Works of William Shakespeare that is 1392 pages long. That volume of work is how he became known as the Bard.
