For the month of July 2024 several of us are going to take on a 30-Day Nickname Coach4aday Challenge. The simple concept is to share a nickname and tell a little about who it is associated with and why they got tagged with that moniker. Today I’m going with LUCKY LINDY

Today’s nickname of Lucky Lindy belongs to Charles Lindberg who became famous for two iconic events. He was the first aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean and his oldest son was kidnapped and killed. That last event led to a capital murder case in New Jersey that was dubbed the “Trial of the Century“.

Nickname 30-Day Challenge Guidelines

Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines.

  1. Each day in July learn something or just appreciate a nickname associated with someone.
  2. Share that name with others
  3. If so inclined use the hash tag #Coach4adayChallenge on social media platforms

July 7th-Lucky Lindy

Charles Lindberg comes from an interesting family tree. I wrote about that in a blog dated January 12, 2024.

Sometimes the origin of a nickname like Lucky Lindy has a few twists and turns. That was the case with Lindberg. When he landed in Paris in 1927 after his transatlantic flight the French press dubbed him “Plucky Lindy”. A song was written to honor him, and the songwriter changed plucky to lucky.

You can listen to the song Lucky Lindy below.
