For the month of July 2024 several of us are going to take on a 30-Day Nickname Coach4aday Challenge. The simple concept is to share a nickname and tell a little about who it is associated with and why they got tagged with that moniker. Today I’m going with BAMBINO

The nickname “Bambino” was famously associated with George Herman “Babe” Ruth, one of the greatest baseball players of all time.

Nickname 30-Day Challenge Guidelines

Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines.

  1. Each day in July learn something or just appreciate a nickname associated with someone.
  2. Share that name with others
  3. If so inclined use the hash tag #Coach4adayChallenge on social media platforms

July 3rd-Bambino

Babe Ruth was a child prodigy in the game of baseball. He was 19 years old when he made his MLB Debut in July 11, 1914. He got the name from a reporter who used the Italian word “Bambino,” meaning “baby” or “child to describe Ruth in his first season.

Found a 1920 film that has lots of footage of Babe Ruth the Bambino.
