For March 2024 several of us will be participating in the “30-Day Shout-Out Coach4aday Challenge”. Today the recipient is MATT CUTTS
I have never met Matt Cutts but he gave me an inspirational gift.
When asked about how I started working on 30-Day Challenges during retirement, I recounted the origins of Coach4aday, a daily blog I initiated in 2014. I found that maintaining a daily writing habit was more manageable with a specific theme. Towards the end of 2019, I stumbled upon a Ted Radio Hour Podcast featuring Matt Cutts, which provided inspiration. Since then, for the past 51 months, each month has been guided by a theme derived from that episode.
Every 30 days, Matt Cutts gives himself a new CHALLENGE: decluttering a room, exercise, writing a novel, meditation, giving up sugar, even chewing more slowly. On January 2020 I began the habit of taking on 30 Day Coach4aday Challenges. The majority of my posts over the past four plus years have been about that daily challenge. All because of Matt Cutts.
Rules of the Challenge
Organizing and participating in the 30-Day Shout Coach4aday Challenge is very simple. Below are the steps.
Here is how to participate.
- Identify who gets the daily Shout-Out and make sure they know you are recognizing them.
- Describe why you giving them a Shout-Out-what are they doing that is notable?
- Do this daily for 30 Days posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

March 20th-Matt Cutts
One invaluable piece of retirement advice is to “Keep Exploring New Horizons.” My journey in retirement is an ongoing evolution marked by the adoption of new habits. While not every 30-Day Challenge I undertake remains a fixture in my routine, several have seamlessly integrated into my daily life. For instance, habits like daily push-ups, maintaining a gratitude journal, regular stretching, focused breathing exercises, and reading a spiritual devotional each morning have become integral parts of my daily routine following successful completion of their respective 30-Day Challenges.
