For January 2024 several of us will be participating in the “30-Day 6 Degrees of Separation Coach4aday Challenge”-today we learn about the connection of the father of a US Congressman who changed his name from OLA MANSSON and became the great-great grandfather of Erik Lindberg.

Ola Mansson was born in 1808 in Sweden and over the course of his life got into a little jam. He has married Ingor Jonsdotter and had 7 children along with obtaining a position as bank director. He also had a 19-year-old mistress named Lovisa Jonsdotter Carlen who bore him a son who was named Carl Mansson (born in 1859). Ola got accused of embezzlement and decided to leave Sweden and immigrate to the US with Lovisa and Carl. He left his wife and 7 children behind. He soon changed his name August Lindbergh, Lovisa became Louisa, and Carl Mansson became Charles August Lindbergh.

Rules of the Challenge

Many people have heard of this concept. The notion of six degrees of separation grew out of work conducted by the social psychologist Stanley Milgram in the 1960s. It then became a 1993 film named appropriately “Six Degrees of Separation.”

Organizing a six degrees of separation challenge involves creating a chain of people, each connected to the next by a mutual acquaintance. The goal is to demonstrate that any two people in the world can be connected through a chain of six or fewer personal connections.

2. Go thru the connections with a brief explanation.
3. Do this daily for 30 Days posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

Day 12-Ola Mansson to Erik Lindbergh

5 Degrees of Separation-Ola Mansson (August Lindbergh)-Charles August Lindbergh-Charles Lindbergh-Jon Lindbergh-Erik Lindbergh

1. Ola Mansson was born in 1808 and changed his name to August Lindberg he had a child with his mistress Lovisa that they named Carl Mansson.
2. Carl Mansson was born in Sweden but moved to the US as a very small child and had his name changed to Charles August Lindbergh. He would become a US Congressman in Minnesota and married twice-his second wife gave him a son named Charles Lindbergh
3. Charles Lindberg was born in 1902 and would go on to achieve great fame as an aviator. He married Anne Morrow and they had 6 children including their oldest Charles A Lindberg Jr who was kidnapped in 1932. The next oldest child was Jon Lindbergh. FYI Lindbergh also fathered 7 children with three different women in Germany.
4. Jon Lindbergh was born five months after his brother had been kidnapped and killed. He married Barbara Robbins in 1954 and had 6 children with her and 2 more with his second wife Karen Pryor. One of the children from first marriage was Erik Lindbergh.
5. Erik Lindbergh like his grandfather is an aviator. He is also the chairman of the board of the Lindberg Foundation
