Today for the 30-Day Podcast Coach4aday Challenge my theme is the 8 TRACK tape.

In 1965 two things became to happen to attempt to make a change on how the world listened to music. This 8-track tape was marketed to listen to music and the cassette tape was created to help with home recordings of music. Eventually the cassette overtook its tape cousin. Yet there was a glorious time when 8 TRACK players were all the rage. That time included tenure as a high school and college student.

Day 19 Podcast

National Public Radio (NPR) had a 2011 program called The Record where they aired an episode called “8-Track Tapes Belong in A Museum“. What made the episode interesting was a collector named Bucks Burnette has amassed a collection of nearly 1,000 8 track tapes. His collection even includes the Beatles “White Album”.

Podcast Takeaways

Sometimes a podcast piques my curiosity and that happened with this episode. Searching YouTube, I located a video of the museum. Take a peek if you remember popping a tape in your Vega, Pinto, or VW Bug.
