In June 2025, many of us are taking part in the 30-Day “On This Date” Coach4aday Challenge. Each day, the challenge encourages participants to engage in a meaningful or enjoyable activity inspired by a historical event, anniversary, or personal memory tied to that specific date. My post today is a tribute to the 45th wedding anniversary of my wife and myself.

June 8, 1980, was a scorching hot day in Scotland County NC with temps surpassing 100 degrees. It also was the day my wife and I got married in a small church called “Church in the Pines” located right off of US 74 in Laurel Hill NC. We spent the first night married in Southern Pines NC because that is where we me. Tonight, we will go back for a celebration dinner.

On This Date-30 Day Challenge Guidelines

As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to think about the history of each day in June.

  1. Record something about what happened on this date. It can be an event, memory, or anniversary.
  2. Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
  3. Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

June 8-45th Wedding Anniversary

Being married for 45 years is a powerful testament to my wife’s love, commitment, and resilience through life’s many seasons especially being married to a college coach. She has allowed our partnership to flourish because of trust, shared values, and countless memories. Some of those memories can be captured in photos but many cannot.

The photo below was the day we got engaged February 27, 1980.

The next photo was in Charlotte NC on our 33rd Anniversary

One of the big points of pride for us is our five children, 4 daughters-in-law, 1 son-in-law, and 3 grandchildren with a 4 due any day now.

Happy Anniversary to us!
