This month the 30-Day Coach4aday Challenge is on State Trivia. You select a US State you have never lived in, and each day share an interesting fact or piece of trivia. My State is Wyoming and today my nugget is about the WIND.

WIND energy has existed for thousands of years. People used wind energy to propel boats and ships dating back to 5,000 BC along the Nile River. In the United States today the State of Wyoming holds a prominent place.

Wind Farm

The largest WIND Farm in the United States is currently under construction near Rawlins, WY. The Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project is scheduled to be completed in 2026. One dominant reason that Wyoming was chosen is that it consistently is a place where strong breezes blows.

Scientists have adopted a scale called the Beaufort Scale. Wyoming ratings are some of the strongest in the country hitting in the 6-7 range. The location of this project is on 320,000 acres but the site of the turbines only covers 1,500. When completed it will have 900 turbines.
