For the month of April several of us are taking on the “30-Day Conversation Coach4aday Challenge“. Today’s dialog is about a conversation at sea that ends with a Uh Oh moment.

Sometimes conversations can become a little testy when someone in charge believes their authority, title, or ego is being questioned. Hubris is a dangerous situation whether on land, sea or the air. We all need to be careful not to let our titles impact our decision making.

The overarching aim for the 30-Day Conversation Coach4aday Challenge is to engage or to repeat conversations and disseminate them. Whether these conversations hold valuable lessons, shareable insights, or are simply a mishmash of thoughts, the goal remains to foster connection and potential learning experiences for all involved.

Rules of the Challenge

First brevity is the key. Second it is not necessary to fully identify the parties involved but writing it like a script might be helpful. Third the conversations being shared can come from personal experiences, books, films, TV shows, or are imaginations.

Today’s post is straightforward: observe an interaction between two individuals discussing who is going to take action. One individual Captain Hancock holds rank the other does not.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
