For March 2024 several of us will be participating in the “30-Day Shout-Out Coach4aday Challenge”. Today the recipient is TITO MASSOL.

If you know Pedro “Tito” Massol you know he is connected to a wide variety of people. I feel blessed to call him, his wife Terri, and two adult children friends. His diversity of friends is continuation of where he grew up.

March 28th-Tito

I grew up in metropolitan area of New York City in Northern New Jersey. Tito grew up in New York City. My hometown of Morristown, NJ was a melting pot, but Tito’s neighborhood was a diversity cauldron.

My best friends were either first- or second-generation Americans hailing from Cuba, Italy, Israel, Poland, Greece, and France. That exposed me to all types of culture and language differences. As a child and teenager, I just thought that was how everyone grew up and so did Tito. Moving to North Carolina made both of us realize that not every place was like NYC. We adapted but the appreciation of differences traveled with us.

When I met Tito that nuanced definition of diversity tied us together. The south often defined diversity along racial lines but New York City/Northern NJ always seemed to put the emphasis on culture. If I had a college degree in exposure to different people Tito had earned a Ph.D.

Everyday Tito gets to join a Kenney Family Wordle Puzzle Group.

We love that we have adopted him as an honorary Kenney except on the days he breaks our stronghold on the fewest guesses. But there is no guessing on the value he has to our family as a friend.

That love of people from all backgrounds is what makes Tito and his family worthy of a shoutout.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
