This week our host Jim Adams for Song Lyric Sunday has given us the weekly prompt Nonsense. Specifically, to feature a song that has Nonsense Lyrics.

The goal is to take the prompt and profile a song that has it part of its lyrics or title.

Please consider carving out time to read the posts of other bloggers who responded to the Song Lyric Sunday challenge.

Rules of Song Lyric Sunday

Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it contains the prompt words or not.  If it does not meet the criteria, then please explain why you chose this song.
• Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.  Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be.
• Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
• Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
• Ping back to this post or place your link in the comments section below.
• Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
• Feel free to suggest future prompts.
• Have fun and enjoy the music.

Rama Lama Ding Dong

There is a car in the history of Ford Motor Company that they may want to forget. It was the Edsel. Some have dubbed it the biggest flop ever.

Well the song I am profiling is “RAMA LAMA DING DONG” and it was recorded by The Edsels. The song was written by George Jones

Sometimes “Nonsense Songs” need to be revisited and that was the case for The Edsels. The song came out in 1958 as a Dub single with the wrong title “Lama Rama Ding Dong,” and after a little airplay, people lost interest. However, the song was revived in 1961 and reissued with the correct title. “Rama Lama Ding Dong” then went to #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

Lyrics

Here is 1992 YouTube video of the song being performed by three of the original members of The Edsels.

Next week the prompt will be lyrics associated with electronic communication devices (pagers, iPhone, Android, fax machine, computer, TV.
