In June 2025, many of us are taking part in the 30-Day “On This Date” Coach4aday Challenge. Each day, the challenge encourages participants to engage in a meaningful or enjoyable activity inspired by a historical event, anniversary, or personal memory tied to that specific date. My post today is on the Summer SOLSTICE.

If you like lots of sunlight today is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Today marks the Summer SOLSTICE. Well technically last night at 10:24PM it occurred but I’m writing about it today.
Summer Solstice means that in Northern Hemisphere the Earth’s North Pole has a maximum tilt towards the sun. That results in more sunlight for that half of the earth. In Southeastern North Carolina the sun will rise today at 6:02 a.m. and set at 8:32 p.m.
On This Date-30 Day Challenge Guidelines
As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to think about the history of each day in June.
- Record something about what happened on this date. It can be an event, memory, or anniversary.
- Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
- Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge
June 21st-Summer Solstice
Darkness and sunshine both trigger the release of hormones in our brains. Those hormones do effect our mood. Darkness triggers the release of Melatonin which causes us to sleep. Sunlight will release Serotonin. It is associated with boosting mood and helping a person feel calm and focused.
Where ever you are in the Northern Hemisphere enjoy the Summer SOLSTICE.
