For the 30-Day Election Trivia Coach4aday Challenge we take a look at a REDISTRICTING fact.

100 years ago, today the 1922 elections were held. There was something very notable about that election. This was Congressional only election since the Presidential vote took place in 1920.

Census and Redistricting

The 1922 Congressional election is the only one is US History where redistricting did not take place. Drawing electoral district boundaries, takes place in the United States following the completion of each decennial census. The census was completed in 1920 but Congress did not pass a redistricting bill.

The rules for redistricting vary from state to state, but all states draw new legislative maps either in the state legislature, in redistricting commissions, or through some combination of the two.

Not every decision to change boundaries is well received and many disputes have gone to the Supreme Court. Below is a list of the cases.
