True confession, when I hear the word piccolo I start laughing. Many years ago, I heard a joke with some “X Rated” language about that instrument that still cracks me up today. If you want to see it go here.

Facts and Quirks

The Piccolo is the higher-pitched cousin of the Flute. In fact, it’s the highest-pitched instrument in the entire orchestra.

Piccolo in Italian is an adjective to describe something that is very small and high-pitched. 

The early instrument had no keys.
