In June 2025, many of us are taking part in the 30-Day “On This Date” Coach4aday Challenge. Each day, the challenge encourages participants to engage in a meaningful or enjoyable activity inspired by a historical event, anniversary, or personal memory tied to that specific date. My post today is a tribute to the 25th anniversary of the NJ Devils winning the Stanley Cup.

There are many people who have watched countless episodes of Seinfeld and realize the NJ Devils were part of Season 6 Episode 23 called “The Face Painter. The team has won three Stanley Cups with their second coming on June 10, 2000, over the Dallas Stars.

June 10-NJ Devils
NHL Franchises do not always win the ultimate prize in capturing the Stanley Cup. In fact, there are currently 10 teams that have never won the cup, but the NJ Devils have done it three times. That feat is the biggest part of the history of the team but so is the character called David Puddy from Seinfeld.
In that The Face Painter” episode Puddy paints his face red and black and aggressively cheers for the Devils, famously shouting “We’re the Devils!” and scaring a priest in the process.
His over-the-top fandom struck a chord with Devils fans, and Warburton has even appeared in character at Devils games—face paint and all—cementing Puddy as an unofficial mascot and cult hero for the franchise.
