So today I am going to repost a story I did a couple of years ago on a challenge to visit all of North Carolina Parks in one year. I realize this is not a reasonable 30 day challenge but it is still a challenge nevertheless.

I wrote about a friend of mine named Justin Smith from Whiteville NC who took on the challenge to visit all of North Carolina State Parks with his son in 2017.

Justin wrote an editorial two years ago on why he completed this challenge of visiting all of North Carolina State Parks in one year. His editorial covers some tips and what he experienced.

There are 41 places that are currently part of the North Carolina State Parks system: 34 parks, four recreation areas, and three staffed state natural areas. Justin and his son saw them all.

So if you want an idea for a 12 month challenge try taking a trip to all of NC State Parks. North Carolina offers up some spectacular and diverse natural beauty.

If don’t live in the Tar Heel State try the parks in the state where you live. I can speak from experience that South Carolina has some fabulous State Parks including Cheraw State Park.

Cheraw State Park

Two years ago Money magazine did a post on the best park in each state.

So if you want to do something that involves travel consider a state park challenge.
