#Motivated October 3

For October I am participating in the 30-Day Sitting and Rising Coach4aday Challenge. My wife and I were both asked recently how we stay MOTIVATED to exercise daily.

Our responses were similar. Maintaining good health lets us enjoy life.

Fitness and Motivation

This will not be a long post. Motivation is often muddled together with will power and determination. The fact of the matter is doing something based on how you feel has flaws.

What researchers have concluded time and time again is it is habits not motivation that leads us to have certain behaviors. Those habits have to include certain fundamentals. Those are outlined below.

  1. Priority-You have to make exercising daily a choice and priority.
  2. Fun-Utilizing your own personable definition make exercising interesting or fun
  3. Accountability-Having someone you exercise with creates a bond of not wanting to disappoint but not showing up.
  4. Progress-track improvement not perfection-creating streaks
  5. Start slow – it is easier to persist with something if it is not daunting in the beginning

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
