Today contribution to the 30-Day Letter Writing Coach4aday Challenge is on Moments

The challenge involves composing a letter to yourself when you were an earlier age. The goal is to focus on a value, habit, or choice that needs to be adopted or made.

Like many people my age you have conversations with friends or family members that have to deal with someone they love and appreciate suffering from some cognitive disorder. Those diseases take away any recall of magical moments they may have experienced in their lives. Today’s letter is a reminder to me today to savor those memories that have occurred over the years.

Day 23-Letter about Remembering

March 23, 2023

Dear Dan:

Don’t take for granted all that you can recall about those special moments in your life. It is a gift you should cherish and use often.

Having the gift of a sound mind today will allow you to recall special times including many from the list below.

Magical Moments

  • Purchasing a bike with money I saved in 1965 from shoveling snow off neighbors’ sidewalks
  • Riding that bike home in 1967 with my first paycheck at a butcher shop in Morristown NJ.
  • The trips with friends or just being with them socially
  • The smell of honeysuckle while driving on a warm summer evening with the car windows down.
  • Visiting sacred places-example Gettysburg National Military Park
  • Witnessing the birth of my five children-I have an honorary degree in Lamaze
  • Retiring happy, healthy, and with no regrets after 43 years of working in higher ed.as a coach/administrator
  • Getting to spend time or having conversations with my granddaughter.
  • The moment my wife walked down the aisle on our wedding day.
  • Having all or part of my family gather together
  • Appreciating the beauty of nature
  • Getting to serve others
  • Getting out of bed excited about the day ahead-including today

There is a chance that today could create one of those moments so savor it.
