In November 2023, I’m participating in the “30-Day COMBO Coach4aday Challenge“. Participants will combine or pair two food or drink items. Today my combination is LEFTOVERS and THANKSGIVING.

November 24th Combo of the Day-Leftovers from Thanksgiving

In doing research for post on deep frying a turkey I stumbled on some statistics on the number of leftovers on Thanksgiving. One article stated that we will throw out 305 million pounds of food from the Thanksgiving table.

I am offering up some combination ideas for your leftovers.

  1. Turkey Sandwiches: Create delicious sandwiches using leftover turkey slices. Add cranberry sauce, stuffing, and a touch of gravy for a Thanksgiving-inspired sandwich.
  2. Turkey Soup: Make a hearty turkey soup by combining leftover turkey with broth, vegetables, and any remaining stuffing. It’s a comforting way to enjoy the flavors of Thanksgiving in a different form.
  3. Turkey Pot Pie: Use leftover turkey, vegetables, and gravy to make a savory pot pie. Top it with a flaky crust for a comforting and satisfying meal.
  4. Cranberry Turkey Quesadillas: Spread cranberry sauce on tortillas, add leftover turkey, and cheese. Grill the quesadillas until the cheese is melted for a tasty twist on Thanksgiving leftovers.
  5. Stuffing Waffles: Press leftover stuffing into a waffle iron to create savory stuffing waffles. Top them with turkey and gravy for a unique and delicious meal.
  6. Sweet Potato Pancakes: Mix mashed sweet potatoes with pancake batter for sweet potato pancakes. Serve them with leftover turkey and a drizzle of maple syrup.
  7. Thanksgiving Pizza: Use a pizza crust or flatbread as a base and top it with mashed potatoes, turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce for a Thanksgiving-themed pizza.
  8. Turkey and Cranberry Salad: Combine leftover turkey with fresh greens, cranberries, and a light vinaigrette for a refreshing salad.
