In September 2025, many of us will be taking part in the 30-Day Monuments Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we will spotlight one of the nearly 50,000 National Monuments or Memorials across the United States. In addition, we’ll feature a wide range of other tributes—from statues honoring heroes and athletes to memorials recognizing outstanding citizens and many other categories. Today the post is on one of the 20 memorials identified by the National Monument Audit dedicated ALEXANDER HAMILTON.

The statue of Alexander Hamilton featured in this post currently sits in Central Park in New York City but that wasn’t always the case. In 1780, Hamilton married Elizabeth Schuyler, connecting himself to one of New York’s most powerful Dutch land-owning families. Twenty years after marrying Elizabeth Hamilton in 1800, he began building his country home in Harlem (141st and Convent Ave) which he called the Grange. The house was completed in 1802 just two years before he would die in a duel with Aaron Burr. In 1880 John C Hamilton the son of Alexander Hamilton gifted the granite statue of his dad to New York City.

September 25-Alexander Hamilton
If you want to find the statue it is located on East Drive opposite 83rd Street in the park. It was created by sculptor Carl H. Conrads (1839–1920) who represented Hamilton in Colonial-era clothing. It was dedicated on November 22, 1880, in front of a crowd about 500.
There are lots of things named after Alexander Hamilton including Hamilton College and a former US Nuclear Sub called the USS Alexander Hamilton.
