2020 continues to eliminate or force changes to a lot of events that make up a traditional community calendar. This week HALLOWEEN is the latest event that has to transform itself. North Carolina DHHS officials has offered up advice on how to do it safely.

First Presbyterian Church in Lumberton NC is holding a HALLOWEEN Trunk or Treat event tonight.

2019 FPC Trunk or Treat (L-R) Von Johnson, Carole Goforth, and R.B. Goforth

My wife and I have agreed to be one of the trunks. It is basically an outdoor costume party where children can get pre-packed treats from cars, trucks, and SUV’s parked 30-40 feet apart. It will be another 2020 event that has to reinvent itself. The children will stay in their vehicles and get candy from people wearing gloves and masks.

I was reflecting on candy or treats that kids probably don’t see anymore at HALLOWEEN. Here is my list.

  1. Bazooka Bubble Gum
  2. Boston Baked Beans
  3. Bottle Caps
  4. Candy Cigarettes
  5. Chuckles Bonus clip from Seinfeld
  6. Mallo Cup
  7. Turkish Taffy
  8. Chicklets
  9. Atomic Fire Ball still a John Haskins favorite
  10. Circus Peanuts
  11. Pixy Stix
  12. Necco Wafers
  13. Now and Later
  14. Candy Buttons
  15. Chunky 2nd bonus clip from Seinfeld

Don’t know what the kids will get tonight at FPC HALLOWEEN Trunk or Treat event but pretty sure they won’t be seeing much from this list.
