For the month of August 2024 several of us are going to take on a 30-Day County Coach4aday Challenge. The simple concept is to share a fact about a county in the US. My focus is going to be on North Carolina, and today I am selecting GREENE County.
Greene County was founded in 1799, and its origins consist of being associated with two county names that no longer exist. It first was called Dobbs County then changed to Glasgow County. Glasgow was named for NC Secretary of State James Glasgow, but he got indicted for fraud in 1799 and the name was changed to Greene County.
Here is a map of the county outlined in red.
