n November 2025, many of us will be taking part in the 30-Day Human Condition Coach4aday Challenge. “Human conditions” can refer to the wide range of physical, mental, emotional, and social experiences that define our lives. Each day we will spotlight or describe those experiences. I am going to use this challenge to dive into a book called “The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows” written by John Koenig. It provides the readers words for feelings or human conditions we might be hard to describe. My condition for today is GAUDIA CIVIS.

For many people in the United States, actions like voting, paying taxes, and following the law are seen as core expressions of good citizenship. Gaudia Civis captures the quiet sense of gratification that comes from engaging in those civic responsibilities.
Human Condition-30 Day Challenge Guidelines
As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to sharing something about a Human Condition during the month of November.
- Record or Describe a Human Condition. Try, if possible, to provide an example
- Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
- Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge
If you need help in clarifying Human Conditions here are some examples

November 17-Gaudia Civis
Citizenship in the United States requires active participation, not just legal status. By voting, staying informed, and contributing to community life, individuals help strengthen the democratic fabric that holds the nation together. Democracy is not easy but hopefully the condition of Gaudia Civis strengthens that bond.
