For the month of October 2024 several of us are participating in the 30-Day World Series Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we attempt to learn something about some aspect of the World Series. Today I am focusing on MLB Players who have gotten FIVE hits in a single World Series Game.

For many players who are involved in professional baseball just getting to one single hit is a thrill. Imagine how Paul Molitor and Albert Pujols feel having gotten five hits in a single game. They are the only two in World Series history to accomplish that.

World Series 30-Day Challenge Guidelines

Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines.

  1. Each day in October 2024 write about the World Series
  2. Share at least one fact about the event or the participants.
  3. If so inclined use the hash tag #Coach4adayChallenge on social media platforms

October 12th-Five

Two players only have gotten five hits in a single World Series game.

  1. Paul Molitor – He was the first to achieve this feat, going 5-for-6 for the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 1 of the 1982 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Molitor’s performance helped the Brewers win the game 10-0.
  2. Albert Pujols – In Game 3 of the 2011 World Series, Pujols, playing for the St. Louis Cardinals, went 5-for-6 with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs against the Texas Rangers. Pujols’ incredible game is widely regarded as one of the greatest hitting performances in World Series history.

These two performances stand out as rare and remarkable achievements on baseball’s biggest stage.
