The movie Norma Rae was based on a real life person named Crystal Lee Sutton and her fight to unionize a J.P Stevens Textile Mill in Roanoke Rapids NC. The movie made Crystal’s life FAMOUS but it sure didn’t make it easy. Crystal died in 2009 at the age of 68.
