In September 2025, many of us will be taking part in the 30-Day Monuments Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we will spotlight one of the nearly 50,000 National Monuments or Memorials across the United States. In addition, we’ll feature a wide range of other tributes—from statues honoring heroes and athletes to memorials recognizing outstanding citizens and many other categories. Today the post is on a statue of DWIGHT EISENHOWER that sits in Gettysburg PA.

This challenge has brought about a few surprises, and one was that after Dwight D Eisenhower left the office of President he retired to Gettysburg PA. Next to his home on the campus of Gettysburg College was a building he used for his office. In front of that building on 300 Carlisle Street sits a statue of the 34th president of the United States.

Monuments-30 Day Challenge Guidelines

As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to sharing something about a Monument in September

  1. Record something about a particular US Monument. Make sure you include the location and something about its significance. Try, if possible, to include a photo.
  2. Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
  3. Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

September 29-Dwight Eisenhower

Gettysburg PA was the only place that Dwight Eisenhower ever owned a home. In retirement from being the President his farm adjacent to the Gettysburg Battlefield was where he lived from 1961 to his death in March 1969. Here is a link to all of the statues in Gettysburg dedicated to President Eisenhower.
