For Day 22 of the 30-Day Ingredient Coach4aday Challenge I am ADDING a story to a 2015 project.

Writing a blog often means you have to live with errors related to spelling, grammar, facts, and omissions. In 2015 I composed 365 posts about friends. The concept was that good friends have other good friends. Each day in 2015 I did a story about a “Friend of a Friend“. In April of this year, I realized I made an omission that I want to correct today by ADDING a post to that series.

Mary Boggs Lane

Over a lifetime you can lose regular contact with fabulous people when they relocate. That happened to a lot of us that live in Lumberton NC when Dr. Mary Boggs Lane a well-respected Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialist relocated to Northern Georgia getting her closer to her hometown of Duck, Tennessee. When she lived in Lumberton, she was an important part of the community and our social circle.

Reflecting on the time Mary was close by brought back wonderful memories of a supper club she was a part of. Those events produced interesting conversations hilarious moments of laughter. Mary was often the catalyst for both. My wife and I have belonged to a number of dinner clubs, but the ones Mary was part of were the best.

(L-R) David Redfearn and Mary Boggs Lane

In April we were reunited when we all were attending the wedding of Dr. Ross and Dr. Camille Masters at Quail Hollow Country Club. Conversations at the reception made me realize that I had never done “A Friend of a Friend” post on Mary and her partner David Redfearn.

Mary is one of those unforgettable leaders and friends you meet in your life. She is a big UT Football fan, a pretty darn good Mahjong player, an exceptional dinner host, traveler, and an exceptional medical provider. Later this year she will be transitioning again to Conway SC. Hoping the closer proximity will allow us to interact more frequently.

David is a Canadian like his cousin Rob Redfearn and finds traveling all across the globe part of his career. If there is a world class event taking place somewhere David will be involved in the transportation logistics.

Sometimes good intentions on a writing project require ADDING something new. Deciding to do this story is a great ingredient. That is the case with my “2015 Friend of a Friend” project. Feel better having Mary Lane and David Redfearn being part of that adventure.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
