Doing daily reading or listening to leadership materials brings me lots of new thoughts. Several weeks ago I was researching 30 Day Challenges. I came across an article by Jeff Boss called 15 Unique 30 Day Challenges.

I loved one idea on his list. His concept is to eliminate negative CONTRACTIONS for 30 Days.

Contraction

Examples of words that would be negative CONTRACTIONS include can’t, won’t, and shouldn’t.

Contractions are simply combinations of two words that can be combined using an apostrophe in place of the missing letter(s).

If you are a parent of a small child or even a grandparent of small child we often default to using a CONTRACTION to get a child to change their behavior. That messaging can be delivered without the use of a negative CONTRACTION but it takes practice.

Below are some ways to tweak a negative response (many using a CONTRACTION).

So if you are looking for a 30 Day Challenge, try substituting other words in place of negative CONTRACTIONS.
