My hometown of Lumberton NC is getting a new fast-food restaurant on Fayetteville Rd. called CHECKERS.

I have certainly seen their restaurants but have never visited one before. Did some research about the company’s history. One thing I learned is that their business was one of the front runners in having double drive thru lanes.

History of Checkers

Checkers was founded in 1986 in Mobile, Alabama, by Jim Mattei, and went public in 1991. In 1999 it combined with the Rally Restaurant Chain. The two restaurants even though operating under different names have almost the same menu.

The two combined names have 893 restaurant locations in 28 states. Both headquarters of the Checkers and Rally is located in Tampa, Florida. If you want to take a look at their menus go to this link.
