Today for day fifteen of the 30 Day Album #Coach4adayChallenge I picked out a B.B. KING album from 1997 called “Deuces Wild”.

When it comes to iconic blues performers there have not been many like Riley B. King known to everyone in the music world as B.B. KING.

How he earned his nickname is a pretty good backstory. After serving in World War II, he became a disc jockey in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was dubbed “the Beale Street Blues Boy.” That nickname was shortened to “B.B.” and the guitarist cut his first record in 1949.

Deuces Wild was his 35th studio album. The premise of the album was every song on the disc featured another talented musician. The mega line-up begins with Van Morrison singing “If You Love Me” and ends with Willie Nelson and B.B. singing “Night Life”.

Deuces Wild with B.B King

B.B King was born in 1925 and died in Las Vegas NV at the age of 89.

Lucille

B.B. King has named all of his guitars “Lucille”. For most of his career he used a Gibson semi-hollow body ES-355. A performance at a long forgotten dance hall in Twist AR in led to his guitars being dubbed “Lucille”.

Discography

There are 17 tracks on this album but I really liked “Dangerous Mood” with Joe Cocker, Paying the Cost to be The Boss with The Rolling Stones, and “If You Love Me” with Van Morrison.
