For the month of July 2024 several of us are going to take on a 30-Day Nickname Coach4aday Challenge. The simple concept is to share a nickname and tell a little about who it is associated with and why they got tagged with that moniker. Today I’m going with AMERICAN SERENGETI
East Africa’s Serengeti is an ecosystem of vast open plains, savanna, and woodlands spanning approximately 12,000 square miles. It is home to a stunning array of wildlife, including blue wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, and elephants, as well as the continent’s three big cats: cheetahs, leopards, and lions.
Yet North America has a place similar to that called Yellowstone National Park often dubbed as American Serengeti. Yellowstone boasts its own “Big Five” for wildlife sightings—in this case, bears (grizzly or black), wolves, bison, elk and moose. On my visit to Yellowstone in 2022 I got to see four of the five (no bears).
Nickname 30-Day Challenge Guidelines
Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines.
- Each day in July learn something or just appreciate a nickname associated with someone.
- Share that name with others
- If so inclined use the hash tag #Coach4adayChallenge on social media platforms
July 6th-American Serengeti
Yellowstone is a large park, but one part Lamar Valley is where a visitor is likely to see abundant wildlife. Hayden Valley is also rich with bison and beavers.
