Don’t You Worry About a Thing.

Stevie Wonder wrote and sang a lot of great songs. “Don’t You Worry About a Thing” was on his 1973 album called “Innervisions“. When it was released, it was described as a “Latin Soul“. Stevie Wonder in this song encourages his lady to be fearless in exploring all life has to offer and don’t worry.

Songs often struggle becoming a hit when it begins in a language not native to the listeners. Yet, this song began in Spanish with Stevie belting out “Todo está bien chévere” (“Everything’s really great” or “Everything’s cool”). This song actually had a person in the studio that Stevie was talking to.

In an interview with NPR here is how he described it.

Some of you may remember the November night in 2016 just before Donald Trump was elected US President that Wonder appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He made it clear that he did not like Trump. Colbert asked the singer to perform “Don’t You Worry About a Thing” to allay the fears of liberal voters.
