#Masters April 9

Yesterday was the beginning of a golf tournament called the 2021 MASTERS. Justin Rose is the leader after day one.

The MASTERS for many people signifies the beginning of spring. All of the green grass, flowering azaleas, and pristine white sand makes for breath taking vistas whether in person or on television. Last year the tournament’s traditional start date in April was lost due to COVID 19. The 2020 MASTERS was played in November. The event was great but the course had a different look without all of the spring blooms.

One thing that was still the same in 2020 was the brilliance of pristine white sand traps. I have written a post previously about the sand called Feldspar used at Augusta National. That brilliant white sand has its origin in North Carolina. Augusta has 44 white sand bunkers.

It is not just the beauty of the course that keeps people interested in the MASTERS but it is also rooting for some of the 88 golfers entered.

My youngest son and I will be watching closely since we have a contest going this week. We each have drafted 12 golfers from the field of 88. We have a unique contest where after each round we have to drop golfers from our list of 12. We drop 3 today, we drop 3 tomorrow, and we drop 2 on Sunday. That leaves us with 4 golfers each playing on Sunday. We determine a winner by which group of 4 has the lowest combined score.

My picks are in yellow and his are in green.
