August 2026 several of us are going to take on the 30-Day Plugged in Coach4aday Challenge. Each day, we will feature an item from home or office that requires being plugged into a source of electricity to operate. We will reflect on how it makes life easier. For Day 12 it is the DOORBELL

Today’s post is not technically something that has to be plugged in, but it is certainly connected to an electrical source.
The modern doorbell evolved in the 1830s, when Joseph Henry developed an early electric bell that demonstrated how electricity could be used to signal someone from a distance. By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, electric doorbells had become common in American homes, replacing mechanical knockers and pull bells. Today, the simple push-button doorbell has evolved into a smart device that can include video, two-way communication, motion detection, and smartphone alerts.
Day 12-Doorbell
Sometimes AI has a clever way to describe the evolution of a device. That is the case with the doorbell.
Here is the evolution
Knocker → Mechanical bell → Electric doorbell → Wireless doorbell → Video doorbell → Smart doorbell
