In November 2025, many of us will be taking part in the 30-Day Human Condition Coach4aday Challenge. “Human conditions” can refer to the wide range of physical, mental, emotional, and social experiences that define our lives. Each day we will spotlight or describe those experiences. I am going to use this challenge to dive into a book called “The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows” written by John Koenig. It provides the readers words for feelings or human conditions we might be hard to describe.  Today since it is the end of the month I am going to share a personal bias on the most impactful human condition -GRATITUDE.

For the past four months, I’ve been working on a project I hope to finish by Christmas—tracing my family history all the way back to my great-grandparents on my father’s side. When it’s complete, my goal is to show the connections spanning six generations. The greatest reward of this journey has been a deep sense of gratitude.

Human Condition-30 Day Challenge Guidelines

As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to sharing something about a Human Condition during the month of November.

  1. Record or Describe a Human Condition. Try, if possible, to provide an example
  2. Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
  3. Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

If you need help in clarifying Human Conditions here are some examples

November 29-Gratitude

My family history project is meant to be a gift to my siblings, children, nephews and nieces, and of course my grandchildren. Yet each time I reflect on what I’ve uncovered, it brings forward a deep sense of gratitude. I often pause to appreciate the sacrifices and life-changing decisions my great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents made to give me the life I have today.

Of all the conditions I have explored the past month gratitude is the one that does the best for my outlook on everything including appreciating you who took the time to read this post.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
