In September 2025, many of us will be taking part in the 30-Day Monuments Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we will spotlight one of the nearly 50,000 National Monuments or Memorials across the United States. In addition, we’ll feature a wide range of other tributes—from statues honoring heroes and athletes to memorials recognizing outstanding citizens and many other categories. Today the post is on PAUL REVERE.

Today a viral social media post or video can bring an event notoriety. In 1860 it was a poem written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow titled Paul Revere’s Ride that immortalized Paul Revere in American History. That piece of poetry led to the probably the most recognized statue in Boston being dedicated to the “Midnight Rider“. It is located on the Paul Revere Mall or Prado in Boston MA.
What is amazing about the Paul Revere Monument Statue is the amount of time it took to create and find a final resting place. The statue and monument are shown below.

September 18-Paul Revere Statue
The Paul Revere statue in Boston was created by American sculptor Cyrus Edwin Dallin. He completed the work in 1940 after decades of planning and design delays. There is a lesson to be learned from Dallin’s life related to perseverance and rejection. He was awarded the contract to design the statue in 1885 but his first five submitted designs were all rejected by leaders in Boston. It would not be until September 22, 1940, that the final version was revealed.
