In June 2025, many of us are taking part in the 30-Day “On This Date” Coach4aday Challenge. Each day, the challenge encourages participants to engage in a meaningful or enjoyable activity inspired by a historical event, anniversary, or personal memory tied to that specific date. My post today is on BRIAN WILSON.

Today would have been the founder of the Beach Boys Brian Wilson‘s 83rd birthday. He was born on June 20, 1942, but died two weeks ago on June 11, 2025. Wilson is credited with changing music with his harmonies and studio techniques. He was a man that overcame a lot in his life to write impactful music despite battling partial deafness, drug addiction, bouts with mental illness, and stage fright.

On This Date-30 Day Challenge Guidelines

As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to think about the history of each day in June.

  1. Record something about what happened on this date. It can be an event, memory, or anniversary.
  2. Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
  3. Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

June 20th-Brian Wilson

I am going to admit that during the 1960’s and 1970’s I didn’t fully appreciate the songs of the Beach Boys. In the early 2000’s I got fascinated by Brian Wilson because of the lyrics to Bare Naked Ladies song called Brian Wilson. My friends Mike and Alison DeCinti loved BNL, and I got to hear their songs often when I was in their home.

The lyrics that piqued my curiosity were “Lying in Bed Like Brian Wilson did

So, I began to dive into Brian Wilson’s music and have to say there are songs that are exceptional.

Here are three

  1. Sloop John B
  2. Good Vibrations
  3. Kokomo

Happy Birthday Brian Wilson
