For January 2025, several of us are taking part in the 30-Day Song Lyrics Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we utilize a theme and post the song lyrics from a song that connects the two. Today my theme is on cold weather, and my song is NINE BELOW ZERO.
Today in Southeastern NC we are experiencing some of the coldest temperatures of the winter. In addition, we have 3-4″ of snow which is rare. Picture below is my backyard before dawn today.
My choice of songs today is a 1951 tune called Nine Below Zero written by Sonny Boy Williamson II. The artist whose given name was Aleck Miller and gift was the harmonica was a man of mimicry and misinformation. There was an actual Sonny Boy Williamson who also happened to be a well-known harmonica player before he took the name. You can read all about it at this link.

January 22nd-Theme-Cold-Song-Nine Below Zero
Adding to today’s confusion is there was a UK blues band called Nine Below Zero. The song has been covered by many including Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters and Junior Wells who happened to be taught the harmonica by Sonny Boy Williamson II.
