For the month of April several of us are taking on the “30-Day Conversation Coach4aday Challenge“. Today’s dialog is on a PARTIAL conversation.
One notable shift in societal norms involves the ubiquity of phone conversations in public spaces. Typically, bystanders can only catch a PARTIAL snippet of these discussions, leaving much of the conversation shrouded in mystery. While many of these exchanges are mundane, a select few spark intense curiosities about the topics being discussed.
April Conversation Challenge
The overarching aim for the 30-Day Conversation Coach4aday Challenge is to engage or to repeat conversations and disseminate them. Whether these conversations hold valuable lessons, shareable insights, or are simply a mishmash of thoughts, the goal remains to foster connection and potential learning experiences for all involved.
Rules of the Challenge
First brevity is the key. Second it is not necessary to fully identify the parties involved but writing it like a script might be helpful. Third the conversations being shared can come from personal experiences, books, films, TV shows, or are imaginations.

April 26th-Partial Conversations on the Metro
In early April my wife and spend a few days in Washington DC exploring several college campuses and a few tourist attractions. We rode the Metro a lot in those two days.
During one of our train journeys, we traversed through Capitol South Station, where a group of impeccably dressed individuals boarded the train.
It was late afternoon. Among them, a woman caught our attention as she engaged in a phone conversation, choosing a seat in front of us, inadvertently allowing us to eavesdrop on her discussion with whoever was on the other end of the line.
Here is what I heard:
Mystery Women: Has Myers and Lattimore rewritten those paragraphs?
Mystery Women: Have they been approved?
Mystery Women: How are we doing with the votes?
Mystery Women: What about West Virginia and Iowa?
Mystery Women: Talk to you in the morning?
Could she have been a congressional staffer? Was she possibly discussing the rewriting of a congressional bill? The problem with only catching snippets of conversations like this is that it leaves room for our imaginations to run wild, leading to speculation and curiosity.
