As part of the 30-Day Curiosity Coach4aday Challenge in July, I’ve dedicated today’s focus on the oldest GOLF COURSE in North Carolina.

The mechanics of this challenge involve presenting a question and subsequently uncovering the optimal response.

July 14th Curiosity Question

What is the oldest golf course in North Carolina?

North Carolina had over 550 golf courses. The exact number may vary slightly as new courses are built and existing ones may close or undergo renovations. What makes the state attractive to the sport of golf is the diversity of topography located in the Tar Heel State.

July 14th Answer on Oldest Golf Course

The oldest golf course in North Carolina is the Pinehurst No. 2 course, located in the town of Pinehurst. That course utilizes an iconic “Putter Boy” as a logo.

It was designed by Donald Ross and opened for play in 1907. Pinehurst No. 2 has a rich history and has hosted numerous prestigious golf tournaments, including the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open, and PGA Championship. It is considered one of the finest golf courses in the United States. In 2024 it will once again host the USGA US Open. The good Lord willing I will be volunteering at that event.
