For today’s 30-Day Baseball Coach4aday Challenge post I am reporting on LEO Durocher.

Leo Durocher (1905-1991) was an American baseball player and manager. He was born on July 27, 1905, in West Springfield, Massachusetts. He often was called Leo the Lip. The fiery shortstop played professional baseball from 1925 to 1945. Leo played for a lot of MLB teams including the NY Yankees, Cincinnati, St. Louis, and Brooklyn. He was known for his aggressive style of play and his ability to get under the skin of opposing players.

Durocher also had a long stint at a MLB manager. Over 24 years as a skipper for the Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants, Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros, Leo won 2,008 total games, three pennants and a World Series.
