Today for the 30-Day Election Trivia Coach4aday Challenge we look at extreme WEATHER on Election Day.
Having to deal with the remnants of Hurricane Nicole the week of an election in the US piqued my curiosity on the history of Election Day WEATHER. Thanks to research done by Brian Brettschneider I got some examples of difficult conditions across the US on the day of elections.
Extremes on Election Day
*The hottest official temperature recorded on a presidential Election Day was 100 degrees in Mohawk, Arizona, on Nov. 4, 1924.
*If you don’t include Alaska, the coldest temperature recorded on a presidential Election Day in the Lower 48 was 30 Degrees Below Zero in West Yellowstone MT on Nov 3, 1936.
For the record I have been to West Yellowstone it just wasn’t that cold the day I visited in August 2022
*The highest snowfall total on a presidential Election Day appears to have occurred on Nov. 3, 1992, when Burgess Junction, Wyoming, measured 22 inches of snow.
